My Story
I aim to make the world a more accepting place by giving audiences a glimpse into the minds and lives of others, hopefully helping them to better understand their fellow humans. Onstage, I act out characters with my own spins, which incorporate a degree of disability (by necessity: I need to use a mobility aid) and often a degree of queerness (by choice: my characters are usually transgender or not straight, or both). On paper, I write characters grappling with struggles that many of us go through, giving them identities that aren’t strictly cisgender heterosexual able-bodied people with an aim to show that there are threads that connect all of us. Showing the relatable nitty-gritty gives people a window through which to better understand each others’ differences. With everything happening on the nationwide scale right now, it's more important than ever; we have to be able to reach those around us, for the sake of everyone.
